Natural Disasters.

Today Ben from World vision came in to Kereru to talk to us about natural disasters.
He explained to us that there are four phases to recovery and it goes in a cycle you have the Emergency Recovery phase and at the end it's Disaster Preperation and it goes around the whole cycle again.
We learnt lots today and we now know what happens around the world when a disaster strikes.

Kereru's Zoom Art

Most of Kereru Class have been working on their Zoom arts doing them every Monday for an hour for the last eight weeks.

In Term 2 we looked at a picture that was zoomed out from the previous picture. For example the first photo was a rooster and the a rooster on a farm and then children looking at the rooster from their house window.
This Term Kereru designed their own Zoom art of their favourite parts of the year.  They turned out really well.

We had a really enjoyable day.  There were different activities like tug a war, parachute, chalk drawing, water slide and the swimming pool. It was a cool day spending it with Greenpark. Nightmares

Sweet dreams flooded down to nothing but thin air.
The sudden spook of nightmares begin to reappear.
As I step into a world that's dark my memories explode.
I begin to scream in terror, my entire body froze.
Cushioned footsteps patter, into dreams that disappear,
Dreadful panting, cries and tears, my life is full of scares.

Topic- back field project

During topic today we were deciding what we are going to have in the back field. Here is my groups ideas for a fitness track.

My wondering- Why do aeroplanes make tracks in the sky?

Jets burn like cars do. Like cars they have exhaust which is the gas that is created when an engine burns fuel. One of the chemicals in the exhaust is called water vapor. When the exhaust escapes from the engine it leaves a trail in the sky. It is very cold in the sky so the stripes that the jets leave are cooled water and iced crystal. The water droplets are very light so they float in the sky. The technical name for these stripes is contrail or vapor trail. They are made by jets.

A Breath of Darkness

Glistening silver moonlight dances in the reflection of the pure shivering sea. Spots of city lights pierce my eyes and scatter like fireflies. Shadows squeeze through the cracks of rustic grave stones and splinter me with darkness. The peaceful tone of music drifts silently into the ears of those who lie. My eyes glass over as I hear a break. My heart drops.

House of Hades

Earthquakes rumble as precious gems rise.
Pluto owns it all under the soil.
Memories flow in the river Styx
Away through hell.
Death gets tortured in the fields of punishment,
For unhumane sins that cost them their lives.

D-day poem

Engines roaring guns blazing in the dark night sky. I feel a breeze brush past my face. As I step in the door I feel a nudge. It's my time. I jump with thrill and excitement. I'm glad to be out of that horrid plane. A bullet whizzes past me, my helmet falls to the cold hard ground. I release my parachute. I hear a blast. The plane is on fire, roaring down, men injured fall gently to the ground. Germans spot them. They grab their guns and shoot. Blood splatters everywere  as they die. By dawn I met with my company. We sing a war time tune. The beach landings have started...

Topic

Today we have been designing our models for what we think should go in the empty back field for topic. This is some of our Yr 7/8 work that has got a tyre swing and a tyre tunnel made out of play dough. We have two more sessions of topic to finish our models then we have to present our model to the class.

The Grave Digger

A shovel over my shoulder, trudging along.
My only companion the moon and the lifeless souls beside me
I AM THE GRAVE DIGGER
My nose flares from the stench of rotten corpses.
Maggots crawl under the skin of the decaying bodies.
