Basketball - STILL GOING!

Hi everyone, we have now found out that there is MORE basketball! Last weeks game (we thought was the final) was the quarter finals. On Monday we have the semi-finals and the following Monday the FINALS,

Monday 25th August: Ladbrooks Leaopards Vs Lincoln Unicorns 4pm @ Lincoln High School
Ladbrooks Lions Vs Clearview Celtics 5pm @ Lincoln High School.

I can confirm there will be finals played on the 1st September - Games and times are currently undecided.

I apologise for all the confusion. I have spoken to someone at Canterbury Basketball and they have agreed that there has been a break down in communication when informing schools of the final rounds.
I hope everyone is able to make it!

Hay for Oreo

Any donations of Hay for Oreo are welcomed! We are OUT of hay :(

Speeches - Only one week to go!!

Everyone in Kereru has been working hard on their speech. Most students have been researching and writing during class time AND home work time. The speeches are sounding really good. We are using Hapara Dashboard to share and give feedback between myself and the students. Kereru class should be getting this onto cue cards over the next few days and practice every night at home! Target time is 2:30 - 3 min.

Algebra in Kereru

We have had a very busy start to term three! Amongst the inter-school sport, testing, Kiwi Sport, lunch time clubs etc... we have managed to keep our Algebra lessons ticking along!
I am really impressed with the discussions and effort going in to learning about algebraic patterns, rules and equations.
The children are either invited to, or able to 'opt in' to work shops I take each day. These to recap any areas I notice some people are not feeling confident in. While this happens others are moving forward with a challenge using skills they have learn in the previous lesson.

Above: 1. Jackson showing the workshop the rule he came up with "f x 6 = p" and explaining why it works. 2. A group working on algebraic equations and discussing why x would be 3.

Above: 1. Ben completing a crossword using algebraic equations as clues. 2. Paige showing the workshop group her rule "(fx2)+1=p"

Kererus' NEW hand made Bean Bag

At the beginning of last term Kereru class decided to use the beans and material from our old bean bags to make an extra large NEW beanbag!
The students spent a lot of time designing and sewing patches for their bean bag.

We owe a HUGE thank you to Kirsty Lepper who gathered all our patches together, along with the old beans, and old bags. Only a few days later we have this amazing bean bag!
