Road Patrol Training

On Wednesday we had Constable Rick and Constable Megan visit Ladbrooks to train up the Road Patrol students.
If you are picking up children or visiting Ladbrooks between 2:50 - 3:15pm you will see the Road Patrollers in action!

Making observations and inferences in science

Yesterday we experimented with MnMs and water to learn about the difference and importance of knowing the difference between an observation and an inference in science.

Ancient Greek Museum

Over Term 3 Kereru class has been learning all about Ancient Greece - focusing on the Ancient Greek Olympics and the artifacts found in Olympia.

We had tour guides taking the children from other classes through the museum and taught them about the different artifacts.
At the end of their visit, our visitors were treated to a delicious treat of Greek apple cake, Psomi Bread and olives.

All Blacks Competition

Congratulations to our small team of volunteers who took on the job of writing in 200 words or less what 'Fair Play' looked like at Ladbrooks.

We got 3rd place and our prize consists of a visit to the All Blacks Captains Run, meet the player, and All Blacks flag and $100!

Here is the writing that was entered....

At Ladbrooks we show fair play through good sportsmanship, encouragement, sharing and much more. We show sportsmanship by shaking each other's hand after a game, having a positive attitude and including each other in sport. We don’t argue with the referee. If someone is injured we stop and see if they are all right and get help from an adult.
At Ladbrooks we always share the positions and the ball. We all try to give it a go and if we fail we try again. We encourage others to do the same. We NEVER put people down on how well they went during game. We never make a big fuss if we lose or win but if we lose our game we always practice and try to improve.

Last week we had our first session with Angus from Canterbury Volleyball. What a great session!

Tech Fest

Six students from Ladbrooks were able to take part in the Lincoln Zone 'Tech Fest'. They participated in a work shop over two days and thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Thank you to all the teachers who gave up their time to run these work shops!

Congratulations to Emily and Georgia!

Last night Emily and Georgia represented Ladbrooks School at the Ellesmere Speech competition.
They both presented extremely well and Georgia managed to take out 3rd place in the Year 7 group.

Well done to both of you!

3D Printer

We have been fortunate enough to have a 3D printer in Kereru class recently - Thank you to the Barnsleys!. Unfortunately it became jammed, but of course that doesn't stop us!

We watched a You Tube clip and started taking it apart! - Check up on the blog to keep track of our progress.
